FAQ · Pet Travel

Are pets allowed at ATL airport?

Yes — service animals, emotional support animals (with airline-specific rules), and pets traveling in approved carriers are all welcome.

Hartsfield-Jackson welcomes service animals, emotional support animals (subject to airline-specific rules under DOT regulations), and pets traveling in airline-approved carriers. Service animals are permitted in all areas of the airport at no additional cost.

Pet relief areas are available on every concourse (T, A, B, C, D, E, F) and at pre-security exits to both terminals. Each station includes artificial turf, waste disposal, sanitization supplies, and a hand-wash station for pet owners.

Pets traveling in airline-approved soft-sided carriers under the seat in front of you are typically charged a $95–125 in-cabin pet fee per direction. Larger pets traveling as checked baggage in temperature-controlled cargo holds are subject to airline-specific weight limits, fees, and breed restrictions.

Federal rules effective January 2021 allow airlines to require all emotional support animals to travel as standard pets (with associated fees). Trained service animals (psychiatric, mobility, sensory) remain protected under DOT and ADA regulations and travel free.
