Does ATL have art installations?
Yes — the airport has one of the largest public art collections of any North American airport.
Hartsfield-Jackson maintains a substantial public art program, with installations throughout the terminal complex, concourses, and the underground walkway between concourses. The collection includes work by Atlanta-based and internationally recognized artists.
Notable permanent installations include Radcliffe Bailey's 'Memory as Medicine' on Concourse D (a large mixed-media work referencing African American migration and music), the Zimbabwean stone sculpture collection along the central spine corridor walkway (more than 25 pieces), and rotating Atlanta-photographer exhibits at the central spine atriums.
The Atlanta International Airport Art Program also commissions temporary exhibits and rotating installations. Recent featured artists have included Hank Willis Thomas, Theaster Gates, and a range of Atlanta-area emerging artists.
A self-guided art tour map is available on the ATL airport website (atl.com) and at information desks throughout the terminals. The tour takes approximately 90 minutes to walk in full and provides one of the more enriching ways to spend a long layover at the airport.
