Can I smoke or vape at ATL?
Smoking and vaping are prohibited inside the terminals. Designated smoking areas are located outside both terminals.
Smoking and vaping (e-cigarettes, vape pens) are prohibited inside all Hartsfield-Jackson terminal buildings, including the gate areas, restrooms, and lounges. The smoking ban is strictly enforced and includes both tobacco products and electronic cigarettes.
Designated outdoor smoking areas are located outside both the Domestic Terminal and the International Terminal, typically at the curbside zones. Look for signage marked 'Designated Smoking Area' near the terminal exits.
Once you've cleared security, you cannot return to outdoor smoking areas without exiting and re-entering security. Some passengers schedule smoking breaks before clearing security or during long ground-side layovers.
Federal aviation rules prohibit smoking on all U.S. domestic and U.S.-based international flights. Tampering with smoke detectors in aircraft lavatories is a federal offense subject to substantial fines.
