3-Hour ATL Layover Guide
Comfortable margin — time for a sit-down meal, a Sky Club visit, or a quick browse through the airport's better shops.
A 3-hour layover at Hartsfield-Jackson is the sweet spot — long enough for a real meal or a Sky Club visit, short enough that you don't have to hunt for ways to fill time.
After deplaning and the standard 25–30 minute connection process (walk or Plane Train to your departure concourse), you'll have about 2 hours of effective free time before boarding. That's enough for a sit-down meal at One Flew South, Ecco, or Cat Cora's Kitchen if you order quickly.
If you're a Sky Club member or have access via Amex Platinum, the Concourse A or B Sky Club can comfortably fill 90 minutes — buffet meal, drinks at the bar, a workstation for catching up on email, and a few minutes on the outdoor Sky Deck if you're at the A central club.
Shopping is also viable. The luxury retailers on Concourse E (Ferragamo, Hugo Boss, Coach, Montblanc) are worth a browse if you have international tastes. The Atlanta-themed shops on T (Atlanta News & Gifts, Spanx, Vineyard Vines) offer hometown souvenirs.
International-to-domestic connections still require U.S. CBP processing (25–45 minutes), so a 3-hour international-to-domestic layover effectively becomes a 2-hour layover after immigration. Plan accordingly.
