Paschal's has been an Atlanta institution since 1947, when brothers James and Robert Paschal opened a sandwich counter that grew into a hotel, restaurant, and meeting place where Martin Luther King Jr., Andrew Young, and other civil rights leaders gathered to plan strategy. The fried chicken recipe has barely changed in 75 years.
The Concourse T location serves the airport-sized menu: fried chicken (the signature dish), smothered pork chops, fried catfish, collard greens, candied yams, mac & cheese, and cornbread. Plates run $14–22 and most orders are out in under 10 minutes.
Seating is limited to a few counter spots and shared food court tables. Most travelers grab a to-go box and head to a nearby gate. The fried chicken travels well; the fish less so.
Located on Concourse T near the central food court, Paschal's is one of the few airport restaurants that serves recognizably authentic Atlanta cooking. Worth seeking out for the chicken alone.
