Can I walk between ATL concourses without taking the Plane Train?
Yes — an above-ground walkway parallels the Plane Train route and connects all concourses (T, A, B, C, D, E, F).
The above-ground walkway at Hartsfield-Jackson connects all concourses and offers an alternative to the Plane Train. The walkway features moving sidewalks for most of its length, art installations, and natural light through skylights — a more pleasant experience than the underground train for travelers with time to spare.
Walking time end-to-end (Domestic Terminal to Concourse F) is approximately 25–35 minutes. Concourse-to-adjacent-concourse walking time is 4–8 minutes including the moving sidewalk segments.
The walkway is a good choice when you want to stretch your legs after a long flight, when the Plane Train is experiencing service issues (rare but it happens), or when you want to view the airport's substantial public art collection. Notable installations include Radcliffe Bailey's 'Memory as Medicine' near Concourse D and a series of Zimbabwean stone sculptures along the central spine.
All restrooms, water fountains, and emergency call stations along the walkway are wheelchair-accessible. Elevators connect the walkway to gate level at each concourse atrium.
