Can I bring my own food through ATL security?

Yes — solid food is allowed through TSA security in carry-on bags. Liquids and gels (yogurt, sauces) follow the 3.4 oz rule.

TSA permits travelers to bring their own solid food through security in carry-on bags. Sandwiches, snacks, fruit, baked goods, and similar solid items are all allowed without quantity restrictions.

Liquid and gel foods (yogurt, applesauce, soup, sauces, dips, syrup, peanut butter, jelly) are subject to the standard TSA 3.4 oz/100 ml rule. They must be in containers of 3.4 oz or less and fit within a single quart-sized clear plastic bag along with other liquids and gels.

Baby food, breast milk, and formula are exempt from the 3.4 oz rule when traveling with an infant. Declare these items at the security checkpoint; TSA will screen them separately.

Bringing your own food is a useful strategy at ATL where airport-purchased food is typically 30–60% more expensive than off-airport equivalents. Many travelers pack a substantial sandwich and snacks to cover a multi-flight travel day.
