What time does ATL security open?

TSA security checkpoints open at 4:00 a.m. daily. Both Domestic Terminal checkpoints (North and South) and the International Terminal checkpoint operate similar hours.

TSA security checkpoints at Hartsfield-Jackson open at 4:00 a.m. and operate continuously through the day until the last departure clears. The Domestic Terminal has two checkpoints (North and South), and the International Terminal has its own dedicated checkpoint.

TSA PreCheck lanes typically open at 4:00 a.m. as well, though staffing levels are lighter early-morning and very late-evening. PreCheck wait times are minimal at these off-peak hours.

Curbside check-in (skycap service) at the Domestic Terminal typically opens at 4:00 a.m. for major airlines. Counter check-in opens slightly earlier at 3:30 a.m. for the earliest departures. International Terminal counter check-in opens at 3:00 a.m. for the earliest international departures.

If your flight is between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. (the morning peak), arrive at security by 4:30 a.m. for domestic or 4:00 a.m. for international to comfortably clear the morning rush. Security wait times during this window can reach 30–50 minutes without PreCheck.
